Robin over at Pensive's Poetic
License has issued an invitation
to write a limerick about
Thanksgiving.
I can't resist all that rhyming stuff so I decided to have a go;
My very first effort.... well I guess it followed the rules (no rules) but
somehow it didn't grab me.
In
There’s a tradition would suit you and me
Thanksgiving dinner they call it
They gather with family and sit
Around tables witch feature a roast turkey
Robin, she who is the Pensive one,
Say’s write a limerick, have some fun
Talk of thanksgiving and all that it means,
Roast turkey with veg, yeah, peas and beans
With a killer line finish, then you’re done
The more that I tried, the longer I set
The further off topic I seemed to get
I told myself, stick with big turkey dinner
Your limerick will come out a winner
But my mind kept goin’ back toOh well I tried, now what the hell rhymes with Nantucket??

Ha! You get TRIPLE points, Peter:
1) You made me smile.
2) You made me smile OUT LOUD :).
3) You wrote THREE limericks!!
Now, if that isn't the ol' college try, I don't know what is, lol. Thanks for giving this a whirl again...and again.
Oh...and for your question? Well, bucket was the first "printable" word I thought of...;), but Pamela's seems in keeping with the theme of Thanksgiving a bit better.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, love the last one. You made me laugh. Of course, who doesn't know the Nantucket limerick?!!!
Good one Peter!!!!
way to go pamela! pluck it! i would say bucket or suck it or.. well you fill in the rest..
GREAT! I especially loved the 3rd rhyme!
(and actually - Canada has a Thanksgiving too but I think it is in October)
Once a man pondered Nantucket.
He was told to think of a bucket.
He tried to be bold,
but his turkey got cold,
so cold he then had to suck it.
Um yeah, my Nantucket version has rhymes that I won't repeat. :-)
I loved all three. Woo-hoo, great job!
Funny! Loved the last one! ;-)
I absolutely loved the T day story below about the horse. And the pics were great. Real treasures Peter.
About your poetry. It was...er, well, very nice. Yes indeed.
I think you did a great job of it.
Ha-ha!! Thoroughly entertaining. I had a great time reading these (as well as reading everyone's comments!).
Looking forward to next month -- thanks for stopping by!

Third time's the charm. Your last one was a keeper.
Shuck it and chuck it both rhyme with Nantucket.
Oh, so does pluck it!!

I plan to eat a boatload on Thanksgiving.
YUMMY for my tummy!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to you, even if you don't celebrate it in Aussie land.
