Gympie Muster

Another Gympie Muster draws to a close with record crowds gathered to enjoy the festival,
the weather this year treated them kindly with mild nights and beautiful days.

Note; the sign saying "no tarps to be left on the hill overnight" refers to a Muster
tradition of marking your desired viewing location for the day by leaving a small tarp
(tarpaulin) there upon which you place your chairs, rug, eskie (portable ice cooler) and
other stuff you want with you for the day.

Official attendance figures are not yet out but it has been attended by a record number of
enthusiastic Country Music lovers, something over 65,000 for the weekend.
Amamoor State Forrest becomes a city under canvas and is complete with all services during
the Muster and as usual the crowd was exceptionally well behaved.
Country artists are always very keen to take on this gig, the main stage, especially at night under
the stars offers a unique opportunity for them to showcase their talents to the most appreciative
audience.

An awesome sight from the main stage, over the sea of people in "The Snakepit"
then on up "The Hill" in the natural amphitheatre, packed with enthusiastic fans,
that would gladden the heart of any performer.

I mentioned the weather had been good.... unlike last year when Gympie and the surrounding
area was hit with flash flooding, which in turn brought on LOTS of mud, it also meant that for
the first time in years there was no new record attendance set.

Just exactly why you would want to go belly skiing in the mud escapes me, but by the happy
look on this guys face there must be something to it I guess.

I would like to go to the Gympie Muster just once but I'm afraid the crowds would get to me. So I guess that's that. Glad it wasn't like last year, though.

Thanks for sharing. Glad to know another muster goes down in the history books as a colossal success.

As for mud-skiing. You gotta be the right amount of in your cups to do that. The grin gives it away. lol

Great photos.

Hi Peter.
That Muster looks great,I enjoy
country wewent every year, when we lived at Werribee.
It was held at Werribee Mansion which is now a zoo,we had ots of fun and it drew a great crowd.
Hope all is well with you, and hope to see you down here soon.

You sure that guy is smiling? Looks to me like he's going, "Grrrrrr" as in "Who pushed me into the mud."

I'll pass on the mud slide but he looks as though he's enjoying himself! I'm not crazy about those big crowds but I like country music.

I like your new Hyundai too! Very nice!!

Sure, but is Country music in OZ, the same as Country music in the US?

Guys talking about how the crops have failed, their wives have left them, their pickup truck broke down, their dog ran off....
God I miss that dog kinda music?
