I'm going home... I think

There is a 2 or 3 day period after Vicki has her 2nd cataract operation at the end of the week when she will require my help, but I am very pleased to report that her general health has improved to the degree that we both feel confident that she can manage very well without me being here, so after another 3 month stint as her backstop I am thinking seriously about heading for home.

We have been gradually testing the water to this end for a while now, Vicki has completely taken over the driving duties when we go out, we have even included a few outings just for pleasure rather than only those dictated by medical appointments. She has also been able to assume her rightful place as “chief cook and bottle washer”, not that I have in any way minded doing these things, its just that Vicki does them better.

My current plan is to leave Adelaide in about a weeks time, March 31, and to travel home via Victoria so that I can fit in visits with some of my friends and my sister Merle before finally heading “home” to Qld.

As I have said before, one of the advantages of being single and retired is that I can change my plans with a minimum of inconvenience to anyone. So should it become necessary to return to active service I can do so.

The only grey area in all of this is that with an expected easing of her scheduled appointments at the clinic she is going to want to return home to Wudinna far more regularly and that LOOONG drive on her own is a worry, there are friends at Pt Augusta (approx half way) with whom I am hoping she will stay overnight to make the trip easier.

Rex is in Adelaide for a few days at present so we hope to discuss this more fully, problem is that as is usual when he gets to Adelaide there are lots of business appointments as well as his own mounting list of medical things to do…. Will just have to squeeze in discussion time!!!

It is always nice to get home. Of course, home is where the heart is.

I know it will be good to get home but the company at home won't be as good as you have now. It's great to hear of Vicki's progress. I sure hope and pray it continues.
It'll also be good to see if you left enough food for the cat when you get home.

I'm still praying for Vicki every day, and while I know I had very little to do with it, it is wonderful to know that she is getting better!! Give her a big hug from me.

Encouraging to read this post.
I saw my neighbor lady the other day who had the surgery (she's in her 60s) .. and she'd gotten MARRIED!

Just goes to show the disease can be beaten!

I look forward to seeing you before too long. Love to you both & Rex

It will be nice to get home, but more importantly it's great that Vicki is well enough for you to do so!
