My 70th Birthday

Here are some photos of the good time that was had when
I had my 70th birthday very recently.

Here is a happy family shot, Alan my oldest son, Vicki my
favourite daughter, The birthday boy, Marcus my middle
son and Zac
who is Marcus' oldest son.

Three generations of happy Holts lookin' tough.

Vicki was the main engineer of the surprise visit by the
two boys looking lovely
as always.

Alan as my oldest son is carrying on the family tradition
of presenting a well rounded figure to the world.

This is the luggage that surrounded Zac at the airport when
we arrived to pick him up, the poor little Subaru groaned a
bit under the load!!!

Birthday Saga.

Hi folks, I’m here to tell you that you can teach an old dog
new tricks despite any theory to the contrary!!

When Vicki and I arrived at the Brisbane airport to pick up
grandson Zac from Perth, there he was waiting for us in the
nominated spot BUT, he was surrounded by luggage, and I
mean Surrounded, while we were busy stowing the bags
into the Subaru I looked around only to see my oldest son
Alan standing there grinning at me.

I was just getting over the surprise of seeing Alan standing
there when I felt a hand on my shoulder and a voice saying
good day Pop, it was my middle son Marcus, now neither of
these two were expected, (by me that is, Vicki knew they
were coming) at least now the huge pile of luggage was
starting to make sense.

This whole episode was designed to come as a complete
surprise to me and it surely did!!

We have now spent a couple of laughter filled days together
thus making this one of my best birthdays ever, I want to
take this opportunity to thank all my friends and family for
the great memories they put into a scrapbook that Jacqui
put together to help me celebrate my birthday.

I would also like to thank all my Blog friends who expressed
their best wishes for my birthday, the thoughts were much
appreciated.

I just re-read that last two line bit, and saw how really
inadequately it said what a huge thrill I got from the
overwhelming support of my dear blog friends, you people
who although we have never met have become so very
important in my life and I sincerely thank you all.

The scrapbook I mentioned had contributions from pretty
near all my friends and family, some very touching and many
very funny, it can be quite an eye-opener to hear incidents
related as seen through another’s eyes.

The sad part of this is that because of their work commitments
our time together can only be short.

I must take this opportunity to thank Jacqui, who is the
mother of my four wonderful kids, for the wonderful job she
did in scrapbooking my life, I can only suggest you visit her site
to see my thoughts!!

Hi Peter ~~ What a great post and terrific photos. I didn't know that both Alan and Marcus were going. Jacqui said she was taking the book to Alan, so I was not as surprised as you. Glad you had such a wonderful time. Guess you recognise some photos and stories that I sent to Jacqui. That was a great idea- to make the book. I was sure you would love it. Will catch up later, Merle.

Hi Peter, glad you liked the scrapbook, I thoroughly enjoyed making it. I was waiting to hear some adverse comments about Warren's contribution!!

I'm a little concerned about where "Banjo Bear" ended up, I hope he finds a more comfortable ad congenial spot to spend his time with you.

You have given me grief over the years about my bears that it seemed only fitting for you to have one of your own.

"da Gal's" suggestion in yesterdays comments sounds like a good idea, you should act on it.

Anyway sounds like it was a great weekend, hope Banjo and the book give you some added moments to enjoy,
jacqui

What a fabulous surprise and post Peter. I don't know how i missed this yesterday.

A great looking family -- the gene pool no doubt.

How fab -- your very own scrapbook. These are just wonderful - i started doing this with the new techniques and products on the market today - but it doesn't really matter how its done -- they are just so fun to look thru over and over.

Happy Birthday again.
