The Schmooze Awards

I couldn't think of any good reason to use this
cartoon, I just thought it was funny.

Just a few notes on the comments about Schapelle Corby;

One piece of key evidence that was pretty much overlooked in the trial was the weigh in of her surfboard bag and the weight shown when it was unloaded from the plane…. some 4 kg heavier.

She was “strongly advised” to go to court with an Indonesian lawyer a decision that may well have cost her very dearly

There is no time off for good behavior in Bali’s jails, but the behavior is pretty good or the consequences are severe.

Schapelle has a sister named Mercedes, and one would imagine very uninhibited parents.

The Corby girls “enjoyed?” a reputation for having a good time but had never been involved with drugs on anything more than a “party” basis.

As to whether she was guilty or not, I don’t know, it does seem to me to be a very harsh sentence for a crime of this type, and as several readers commented she is a lovely looking girl…. wonder what scars she will bear in another 18 years.

I have been honored (I think) with a Schmooze Award

(what’s with these Sch words??) the award came from Walker a blogger I very much admire, and I feared it was to be a meme at first when he told me of it, you see I don’t do memes but with Walkers way of having people co-operate with him I was a little unsure of how I could best break this news to him, (and stay healthy!!)

Thankfully though I found it was the much coveted?? Schmooze Award that only required me to pass it on to 5 other bloggers, (sounding a bit like a meme now isn’t it?) investigation revealed that there were a few rules I needed to follow, as there will be for the lucky 5 that I choose to bless with this award;

So, what does this mean?

FORMS: schmoozed or schmoosed also shmoozed, schmooz·ing or schmoos·ing, shmooz·ing, schmooz·es or schmoos·es, shmooz·es

Slang To converse casually, especially in order to make a social connection.
A perfect definition of blogging!

See, I knew that.... looks down at shoes.

So now I have to pick 5 bloggers to pass on the Award to, hmmmmm
There are so many that I could give this to and so many more who might retaliate with dreaded memes.

The very first one on my list is…. Drum roll… my sister Merle who has weathered the storm of a crashed blogsite and gathered around her some of the most loyal readers you would find anywhere.

Merle has developed a pattern in her posts that is as effective as it is unchangeable, the fact that her readers love it seems to prove it is the right one for her. (after all she is a little old lady well into her seventies and while it might not work for some of us younger writers it’s right for her.)

In keeping with her recent series of cow photos,
here's another ... Its a cowasaki.

Hastily ducking for cover…

My next nomination is Robyn, I have had the pleasure of meeting this charming lady and can vouch for “what you read at her site is what you get when you meet her” Robyn always manages to get you feeling involved with what she is writing about, a sure sign of a good blogger.

Another blogger that I always look forward to reading is Cliff, his down to earth humor is always refreshing, the upcoming “Blogstock '08” with the hope of an invitation only had a little bit to do with your nomination Cliff, your close alliance with John Deere also influenced me.

A real stalwart of the blogging world Mike Ashley is my next choice, just on volume throughput Mike is a force to be reckoned with and he writes some very funny stuff too, a well qualified Schmoozer indeed.

My final nomination is to one of the very brave people among us battling adversity at the moment, but who will return as bright as ever;

The Cool one Raggedy, I won’t go into detail s of Raggedy’s problems as I’m not qualified in any way to do so, suffice to say that she is having health problems right now that we all pray will go away very soon.
At her best Raggedy is one of the brightest glows on the blog screen, not that she is the only one who has serious health issues but manage to present a cheerful face to us regularly, we salute you all for your bravery and will to live.

Hi Little Brother ~~ I thank you, I think!! I like the cowasaki.
Hastily ducking for cover is a good line and a good move. What's this well into her seventies ?? I am 73 and you are pretty close behind at 71
Us younger bloggers indeed!!!
At least I admit to being a little old lady, when will you admit to being an old man??
Cheers, anyway, Merle.

Congratulations to you and the people you selected.

I'm behind on reading. My net keeps fading in and out and then bloglines decided to tell me I had over 2,000 posts to read.

I'm not that far behind. It decided to update everyone with at least a dozen posts apiece. I'm reading most of them in the feeder long enough to find out if I've seen them before.

Congratulations Peter on this award--one you are so deserving of--actually you have deserved each one you received.

Now to visit those you have bestowed the award on that I do not know.

Hi, schmoozer!

That hick's bathroom looks too clean for a hick.
I wonder where he stores that butt brush???

Thanks for the info about Shapelle. She will undoubtedly be a different person when she gets out of prison. I hope she is guilty, because having to serve that long of a sentence and not being guilty would be hitonious beyond belief.
