St Mary’s Roman Catholic Cathedral has been many years in the making… the foundation stone was laid in 1868 but the twin spires were not installed until the late 1990s.
This ornate piece has pride of place on

Many of the old warehouses have been restored and converted to shops/showrooms now.
Beautifully restored terrace houses at the Rocks.
Up market 3 story terrace houses.
Day 6 and back into the city for a walk around “The Rocks” area which is an area that has been preserved, at least in part, in the original condition of the 1800s, later in the day we went on a ride around the city in an open air double decker bus complete with a very good commentary covering the history of Sydney.
History was never this much fun at school…. funny how much our interests can change isn’t it.
Day 7 another bus ride this morning, out to Bondi Beach this time, a good tour but sadly the photos didn’t survive the downloading ********** it is almost time for the AFL Grand Final, Wazza didn’t want to see this so he is still in Sydney… “Somewhere??”
I just had a phone call from Marcus asking me to post a “I got a ticket!!” on his blog so I had better get to it.

G'Day,
I loved your sydney pics, nice place to visit, wouldn't wanna live there. I used to in my teens, it wasn't as mad then. Being a brissy- ite I'm sure you identify. I love St Mary's though, it is a real work of art and a beautiful place to just go and sit.
Hi Peter ~~ Great photos and as you say History was never this interesting at school. I hope Warren is not lost in Sydney, Somewhere !!
Come back Warren !! Fancy not wanting
to watch the Grand Final ~~ is he really an Aussie or a ring in. Enjoy the rest of your holiday, both of you. Glad Geelong won. Take care,
Love, Merle.
Peter, I love it when you share your photos! Sydney is beautiful. That old iron toilet is gorgeous!
Thanks Pop
Go Cats
Go Cats? Okay, I'll cheer them from afar.
You could set that breathtaking cathedral down in the middle of Paris and it wouldn't seem out of place.
Great photos. Thanks for taking us along.
Great pics, Peter. You brought back memories for me in that pic of the Sydney Town Hall and the El Alamein fountain at the Cross. I went to a fabulous function at the Town Hall one evening where I was representing Hinchinbrook Island. I used to always stay at "The Gazebo" at Kings Cross so the fountain wasn't very far away.
It's a fun city, Sydney. Thanks for sharing your holiday with us. :)
I am taking your trip backwards.
Grat pictures again and tour, You learn alot about history when you walk it with your own two feet
Great pictures! Thanks for the tour.
Enjoy your holiday.
Have a wonderful day!

Thanks for the tour of a foreign land. Oh, Not foreign to you? Great photos. Wazza seems to be taking it well. I hope he kept his clothes on at that topless beach.
Hi Peter, you brought back many memories of Sydney for me. But it sure has changed a lot. I was there in the 70s and it was mad then, it must be totally frantic now. But it is a beautiful city situated on that spectacular harbour.
BTW, see the Cats won...well done, Geelong!
Peter ~ Mrs. LZ and I really enjoyed the ROCKS area. I enjoyed all the cute little garden cafe's behind (and in) many of these old buildings. Mrs. LZ on the other hand loved ALL the little boutiques! ~ jb///
Great pictures Peter. Oh, I forgot to mention about your having Starbucks coffee for the first time! Glad you enjoyed it. We just got a new Starbucks in our town.
