Remembrance Day 11-11-2007

Throughout much of the world this is an important date, it is when we choose to
remember those who have given of themselves on behalf of their countries.
Far from glorifying war this day, whether you call it Armistice Day,
Remembrance Day, Poppy Day, or Veterans Day, in your country it is the day we
offer our thanks to all the service men and women who have helped to keep our
nations free.

In the 1920s in
Australia it was
decided that the
red Poppy
would be adopted
as the symbol for
Remembrance Day.

They shall not grow old,
As those that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest We Forget

Too many young men have been sacrificed to the gods of war and greed.

I remember Veterans selling red poppies as a fund raiser when I was younger. Much younger.

So many owe so much to those who went out to preserve our right to freedom and we should always remember what it costs to live free.
