Fun Monday Feb. 25

Our hostess for Fun Monday Feb 25 is;

Mariposa from;

http://mariposatells.blogspot.com/

Heres da rules.

Next week's Fun Monday is easy, I'll only be asking TWO things -

(1) Please share to us how the NAME of your BLOG was made? I
can't wait to hear interesting funny stories!

(2) Please share to us (in words or photo, though a combination of
both will be a bonus!) your favorite/ most common dish!

Gee the naming of my blog is sure gonna be a disappointment, its simply using a nickname
from my childhood years and tacking on "house" as the place for my blog to live.

The second part left me a little unsure whether you wanted a photo and or description
of my favourite dish or the food that goes onto it so in my normal helpful manner I have
decided to show both.

First lets assume you wanted to see my dishes.....

A local retailer had a sale recently selling these 16 piece dinner sets for $13.50 so I bought
two sets giving me a setting for eight people, its a nice light porcelain and goes with any
table setting, as one would expect now-a-days its microwave and dish washer safe.

However if what you wanted to see was the food... well here it is.

Having been raised a good Catholic Calathumpian Boy I usually eat fish on Friday, this is
because due to supply and demand the best quality fish is available on Friday. (see how
much preparation I've put into this post.... started on Friday no less!!)

In the best of traditions fish is served with chips (not fries) so this photo shows one of
my favourite meals, the fish is coated with a bater made up of equal parts of plain flour,
self raising flour and milk, this and the chips are then deep fried in peanut oil.

Yeah I know all the stories about fried food but sometimes ya gotta eat real food!!!

Now would be a good time to go and check out some other players, there's a list at
Mariposa's site.

Thanks Pete. For months now, I've been wondering how the hell you came up with the name for your blog!

Peter that sounds a good enough reason to me. My mother's family name is "Holt" so when ever I visit your blog I always think of relatives!

Ah~ fish and chips. I lived next door to a chip shop as a child~ and no it didn't put me off it's still a favourite treat of mine.

What a bargain! Your cheap dinner set is actually quite nice! I am most impressed with your shopping skills! You can keep the greasy food though!

Fish'n'chips, wrapped in newspaper and eaten straight from said newspaper...best food in the world. And yep, Friday night was fish night for us also as kids...still is for me, even though my RC affiliations were left behind aeons ago.

That's a nice dinner set, too, Peter. Yep, I like that very much.

How's things with you?

My title is Old Horsetail Snake.

Old, because that's what I am.

Horsetail Snake, because when I was a kid these little skinny black things would float down the watering canal and we'd catch 'em. Take them home, tie one in about 8 knots, and see how long it took for the snake to un-tie itself About 15 minutes. You could tie one around your tallywhacker if you wanted, and it would untie itself from there, too. Which we all did.

Food: I can whip up a mean batch of jello.

Oh we love Fish and Chips at my house. Well not really at my house but at restaurants that can do it right! Have a great week Peter!

My current set of dishes was from a deal like that....I have had them for over 20 years, but just broke the 6th (of 8) bowls. Hmmmm....need to start looking, again!

For the name (primary blog): I live in Lansing, KS, I am a man, and I have views. tee hee. I know, it is too damned simple. I can live with that.

For the name (book blog): It is all explained here.

For the dish:

The dishes from which we eat are purchased by my wife.

The food will be much more difficult. There are so many things I like. At the moment (0620) a nice bowl of oatmeal with walnuts, cinnamon and brown sugar to go with my tea and orange juice will do quite nicely, thank you.

Make it a great day.

You are the 2nd fish and chips I've seen. I love fried food, but it doesn't love me anymore. Lovely dishes, really, I like them. Simple and distinguished, and a great price!

What's the difference between chips and fries? The chips have a batter? I have had fish and chips before but I just wondered. I used to love fish sticks when I was a child and ketchup. I never was ketchup though. Just incorrect grammar. Hee hee.

I know of a man who when instructed to show up at a potluck dinner with his 'favorite' dish, will show up with a plate and silverware saying that this is my favorite dish.
I'll not explain how I came up with 'Cliff Morrow's Blog.' It's way too long and boring.

Peter ~ Where ya been mate? I know... I know! Frying up some Fish & Fries! I loved the Dishes though! As for me... give me a BIG Plate of BBQ'd Ribs (preferably Pork) with some beans and an ear of corn and I am good to go! (No worries mate!) As for the name of my blog... after hours and hours of doing NOTHING but thinking about possibilities and (assuming) that I would not be as aggressive as many other bloggers, I just decided to be a LAZY Blogger, so that I would not get any STUFF, about not blogging consistently or doing Meme's or 100's or even responding to my posts. As it worked, out... no one really hassles me about being LAZY and I have actually posted at least once a week since I started. But truthfully, at times it has been more of an effort than a pleasure. But the people who always thank me for the efforts ALL MAKE IT WORTHWHILE! Later buddy! ~ jb///

There is nothing wrong with fried foods, it's the frying pan
