Fun Monday April 28

Fun Monday was brought to us this week by AOJ @ the
lurchers, pay a visit and read some more fun entries.

Keen observers will note that there is a little bit of cloud gathering over the roof of the
"Foster Unit" which is located in suburban (as distinct from down-town) Adelaide.



This path which leads up to the unit goes around an ornamental lake and was the planned
route for my "walk" however the weather has taken a turn for the worse so we did a
switch to an indoor site.



As can be seen from this photo taken a couple of days earlier the lake is home to a variety
of water birds and also hosts lots of walkers, at this time of year you could expect there
would be green grass everywhere which would look a lot better, a combination of drought
and extensive beautification program by the council has it looking very bare at present.



We chose as our indoor walk the huge IKEA store in Adelaide, for those who are not
familiar with the name; IKEA are a Swedish Company with a unique marketing policy
which basically says come and shop here its a fun experience.
They specialize in home wares, anything from furniture to towels and curtains, they
have many "rooms" set up with furniture and all the trimmings so you can get a good
idea of how it will look when you take it home, most furniture is European/ Scandinavian
and comes in flat packs for home assembly.




Ikea are very helpful people, they even provide a map of the huge warehouse style building
so you won't get lost.



This walk is clearly indicated by large arrows (we didn't see any Indians though) to
keep you on the straight and not so narrow path.



Along the way there are rest stops with comfortable seating, and television where
one can regain the energy to continue on.



The kids are not forgotten either there are play centres dotted around the place, like
this room full of plastic balls for the youngsters to roll and jump in, (the little blighters
kept coming up though!!!)



I came across this "man sized" glass along the way... capacity 3.5 litres.



Then into a perfect pantry... storage for 180 bottles of wine, now thats a pantry!!!



I saw the light not long after visiting that pantry with that glass!!!



Some customers seemed to seriously miscalculate the capacity of their cars boot (trunk)

As well as all this IKEA have dining and snack areas where they serve cheap and tasty food
in comfortable surroundings, we had Swedish meat balls and chips (fries) and an apple danish
(from Sweden?) all for $20 with a bottomless cup of coffee or soft drink... good value!!!

Hope you enjoyed our walk, we did and Vicki managed it quite well, for those who have been
following her health issues, the medication seems to be gradually kicking in and she is
having a share of good days so we are hoping that her recovery is on the way, we will return
to the farm at Wudinna (read outback SA) this week and hopefully she can settle down there
without too much stress.
