May 14 Health update

I have been a little remiss in the health updates lately mainly because progress is so slow that it seems to be just repeating the same thing over and over.

We believe there has been an improvement in the Cushings syndrome, there are visible signs with this disease, these indicate an improvement but she is suffering rather badly from both headaches and Joint pains (long term problems) and to allow her current medication to work properly she isn't allowed any anti-inflammatory's or strong pain killers.

This means that she is in almost constant pain and on her good days the pain is lessened a bit, while her bad days are pretty bad.

Because Vicki has a 30 year habit of being indispensable around the farm and because this is a busy time she does tend to push herself to the limit when she has a "good" day and then suffers the consequences for it (all this despite our best efforts to slow her down!!)

I have some concerns that her specialist has not scheduled any appointments for a 2 month period (unless there are any changes in her condition) so its pretty much sit and wait till then (June 23).

One can only assume that he knows what he is doing and that there will be an end to all this, meanwhile I feel about as handy as a hip-pocket in a singlet most of the time but at least we get lots of “family time” which is a very nice change.

I want to thank all you lovely people who have maintained this vigil with us, it is heart warming to know just how nice people are.

I think of you (and pray ofr) you and Vicki every day, Peter. I know she is happy to have you around.

Headaches are the worse and without painkillers it must be torture.
Can she try alternative remedies like accupuncture?

We all wonder at times if the doctors know what they are talking about but usually they do.
I hope she starts feeling better and gets some rest

Hi Peter ~~ Thanks for the update, although Vicki sent me an update last week which I MUST answer. I am so sorry she is having so much pain.
Maybe if it continues, she should go back sooner to get some relief.
Take care, Love, Merle.

She (and all of your family) is in my prayers Peter.

I hope she has many more "good" days ahead...

Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn!

Sorry to hear Vicki is in so much pain. She is a very special person, who will work to be sure the work gets done and keep herself occupied.

You might want to get a second opinion, too.

Much positive energy continuing to come your way.

Peter, I have thought about Vicki so many times and wondered how she was doing and she continues to be on my prayer list. I'm sorry she is in so much pain. I do hope things get better for her. I know this isn't easy for you either. I'm hoping and praying for all the best.

To be in constant pain must be awful~ especially not being able to take mediation strong enough to give some relief. You all remain in my prayers.

Hang on to hope. It's stronger than you think!

hot baths, deep cleansing breaths, quiet music, and some touch therapy by people who love her.

Good pain reduction methods.

If you're not pleased with her Doctor, suggest she get a 2nd opinion about current treatment. Have you googled it for recent info?

My neighbor had surgery - and is much better.

Well Peter, the blessing is that you are with Vicki during all this....I do wish there was something more to do about the pain...that's a very difficult thing to live with. I can only hope when that June 23rd date comes a lot of things will be settled for her...and all of you. My thoughts are with you all....

Peter ~ Thanks for the update on Vicki's condition. That Cushings syndrome sounds like it is no fun. We'll keep her in our thoughts and prayers! G'day Mate! I'd like to say "No worries" too, but somehow I think that's out of the picture! ~ jb///

I'm glad to hear any tidbit of good news regarding Vicki. I'm saddened to know that she has bad days that are filled with pain. She is obviously a hard worker and doesn't like taking it easy.
She is a blessing to you all!
I know it is hard to wait and see how the medicine works because you see her in pain. If after two months she has not improved, you have my permission to punch the doctor in the nose.
