Pensive poetry

Robin of Pensive has invented a new poetry form for the July
challenge, she has named this new
poetic form "The Pensive"
so join in the fun and
get all poetic.

What is a Pensieve? A titled, five-line poem; each line correlates to one of the five senses--sight, sound, scent, taste, touch--and describes the subject (title). The goal is for the reader to take on the poem as his own, being able to "experience" your subject through your words, by seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and feeling what you described.

"Ode to the senses."

I see a note here from Pensive

And I hear just what it is that she thinks

Her idea has touched me, right where I live

I have so longed for the taste of success

Well here is my dismal effort, right here, and it stinks.

I sorta wanted to stick to some semblance of rhyming but in keeping

with the free flowing example I completely scrapped the meter, but

I think all the senses got a mention.

It is supposed to be a fun exercise isn't it?

Pop over Here and see what else has been written.

I'm giggling about how you got the sense of smell in there.

You always delight me Peter!

Okaaaay...so that's "poetery" is it? I think I'll stick to AB Patterson or someone like Wordsworth, thanks very much.

Ha! No regrets on my end, you gave me reason to smile. And I know what you mean about meter--I had to fight the tendency to try to make that (and rhyme) a part of this. It CAN be, but it's not necessary.

Thanks for joining in...I'm linking for ya!

Peter, this was really good, and very creative. I don't know what you really think of it, but I thought it took some...thought. Really neat.

I'm glad I stopped by.

Ha ha, loved the last line! We must all learn to laugh at ourselves from time-to-time. Not a flop, not at all!

Oh - I love your Pensieve, because you actually got it to rhyme!!! Very clever.

I thought it was very witty, and as someone who has no regard for meter or rhyme have no problem with either being stretched for or contorted, whatever your wont.
