I love a sunburnt country. A land of sweeping plains. Of ragged mountain ranges. Of droughts and flooding rains.

Fun Monday
Ari is the host for Fun Monday on 9/28/09. Here is Fun Monday's question for 9/28/09: If you could click your heels three times, and change lives with any character from any film, who would it be and why?
OK this should be a simple assignment!!
John Wayne "The Duke" what red blooded male wouldn't want to be The Duke,
to lead the wagon train westward, beat the bad guy to the draw or more often,
in a fist fight, and have that great relationship.... with his horse.
"Crikey" There are so many reasons for wanting to be like Steve Irwin, his joy for
Living and boyish exuberance as the "Crocodile Hunter" make him a must.
My favourite "Country" singer, Australia's own "Slim Dusty" only made one movie,
it was about his life and would have been seen by very few people outside Australia
but Slim holds a place in our hearts that no one can take away.
Paul Newman is an obvious choice when we pick out "Heroes" that we would like
to be, even if only for a short time, trading insults with Elizabeth Taylor in
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, or jumping of that cliff with the Sundance Kid, pulling a con
job as Fast Eddie Felson.... the list goes on.
"The Chairman of the Board" Frank Sinatra, whether he be singing "Set 'em up Joe,
as Pvt Angelo Maggio in From Here to Eternity, or Col Joseph L Ryan in Von Ryans
Express.... Francis Albert Sinatra was tops.
There was never a movie starring A B "Banjo" Paterson but his best loved poem
"The Man From Snowy River" was the basis of a movie by the same name so in my
mind he also qualifies................
Hey hang on there.... these guys are all dead,
(as are a lot of my other favourites), let me think there has to be someone who is
still living that I can aspire to be....
I've got it I want to be Tim Robbins playing Andy Dufresne in "The Shawshank
Redemption" not only is this a great role in a great movie but it gives me the chance
to get to know another of my favourite actors, Morgan Freeman, as for other reasons
to want to be Tim Robbins... he has spent 21 years with Susan Sarandon who is also
one of my all-time favourites.
Tim is still a babyface even with the grey hair.
Susan still displays all the reasons that I love her.
Thats probably enough of a glimpse into my twisted mind for most of you, go visit

Tim Robbins is a good choice.
I would have to say Angelina Jolie - I find her fascinating, plus she is with Brad Pitt!
Did I ever tell you that I once had a date with Chris Sarandon - Susan's first husband?
I like you just the way you are!!!
But, if you did get to click around a few rounds in Frank Sinatra's heels -- I wouldn't mind dallying a bit.
Fun, Peter!
LOL! I was amazed that you would want to be so many different people then laughed when you realised they were all dead! Please stick around for a lot longer! Pamelas comment also made me giggle.
Now I could not think of a single person I would want to be and posed the question to GB who agreed. He would not want to be anyone famous and have stupid fans stalking him all day. (It would totally cut into his computer time! LOL)
Peter ~ "Susan still displays all the reasons that I love her?" Just WHAT would those be? ~ jb///
My goodness, you will become a man with multiple personalities ! I hope they won't get in trouble and you need psychiatric help, lol !
LOL so you finally settled for Tim Robbins - though I have to say the other's are very noteworthy people and worth a mention.
HaHa, I also admired most of the "Dead" characters you mentioned. The living Tim Robbins was awesome in the Shawshank redemption. Good Choice Peter. Happy FM
Yep! We can see why you would want to be Tim Robbins, Peter. . .she just gets better all the time. Nothing like a "principled" woman! And I see your list got an invitation to "dally" from Pamela. You should join in Fun Mondays more often! P.S. personally speaking I'd jump off a cliff with Paul Newman any day!
I like your Six Feet Under Club - but I agree with your assessment of Tim Robbins! He was wonderful in "Shawshank Redemption"! Have you ever seen "The Player"?
Hello! Thanks for visiting my FM...and for echoing my sentiment about Audrey Hepburn. As I told another commenter, I really do think that Audrey had more talent and class in her little finger than most of the so-called "leading ladies" of today have in their entire overexposed, overinflated selves...
But you reminded me of another fabulous and classy leading lady - Susan Sarandon! So good to see that the real stars are not all gone!
Great picks for the rest of your characters too.
Also - congrats to your Geelong Cats! I find Aussie Rules Football on the TV from time to time. It's a fascinating game, though I confess that I still don't understand it all. I'm very partial to my native Irish dad's Gaelic sport of hurling. My team, Kilkenny, is also called the Cats and we also pulled off a record-setting victory recently!
Anyway, thanks for visiting! Happy FM to you!
I've come to want to be you Peter. I've always wanted to visit the land of oz and you're already there.
As for current day actors...I wouldn't open my front door to greet any of them. Mostly self centered jerks.
Fun! I think you're a step closer to being a John Wayne character than I am.
You'd be a pretty interesting character if you had some of the attributes of all those guys in one personality. Whew...what a concept!
I don't know who I'd like to be...myself, I guess. Boring, eh?
You picked well Peter...past and present. I'm going to say there's a little bit of all of those guys in you Peter. Then just add gobs more humor....and we've got YOU!
Those are all good picks. I like the Duke especially, but if it were me, I think I'd pick Superman. It would be cool to fly, I think. Or Peter Cushing in any of the Dracula pictures. Cushing plays Von Helsing who destroys vampires. Wouldn't that look neat on a resume.
If I could have my choice of fantasy men, it would be George Cloonan.
Joy gets my vote for her comments that there is a little of all these guys in you.
What a fun question to ponder. I don't envy the real lives of most movie or TV stars, since their lives are usually a colossal mess. BUT that was not the question, so I'm sure I can come up with some movie characters that I'd like to become for awhile.
Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz is one of them.
I'd also like to be Sydney in the show Alias. What a kick butt character she was!!!
I'd like to be Maria in the Sound of Music.
I hope you enjoy a nice weekend.
:-)
I like your taste in men!
So to speak...
